As of February 28, 2016, Facebook is making “Canvas” available for all Facebook pages. This makes it much easier for advertisers to implement their campaigns graphically and in many cases saves them the time-consuming task of developing a landing page.

This function has already been tested with the Carrefour chain in Spain and is now being rolled out in all other countries.

The idea is very simple: the Facebook user scrolls over an ad and can let it fill the entire screen if they are interested. After that, many more options for interacting with the respective products open up.

Canvases are suitable for multimedia! You can insert all the familiar elements you are used to from Facebook into your digital canvas: images, videos, carousels and even call-to-action buttons. There is just one thing to note: Canvases are only visible on mobile devices!

The „ulterior motive“ is particularly interesting: since Facebook can use Canvas to keep users on its own platform even during the purchase process, an attack on Amazon is suspected. In the USA, Facebook already provides users with a shopping platform, which will probably be further expanded in this way.
