From June 10th to July 10th, the football matches will be played in France and the whole of Europe will be watching. Austria has achieved a sensation this year and, after an almost unbeaten winning streak, has qualified for the European Championships for the first time through sporting means. On June 14th, the national team will play its first European Championship match against an old acquaintance. We have played against the Hungarian team more often than against any other team in the past.
Austria’s chances of making it to the European Championships could be good, because in addition to the group favorite Portugal, the outsiders Iceland and – as already mentioned – Hungary are in the same group as us. We’re definitely keeping our fingers crossed and will be cheering for them.
From a marketing perspective, the European Championship is of course a dream. Products and campaigns are being specially adapted to the major event all over Europe. There are European Championship cakes, competitions, branded print and online campaigns and much more. The popularity of EURO 2016 is being exploited and fans are being catered for. The European Championship boosts sales, not only for betting games and merchandise, but also in the electronics and sporting goods trade. Everyone wants to experience the games in good quality at home and feels encouraged by the European Championship to get involved in sport again.
