This year I enjoyed a full 2 weeks of vacation over the Christmas holidays, starting with a wonderful Ploner Christmas party on December 17th at the Pentahotel.
So I would have had enough days off before Christmas to get all my errands and tasks done in a relaxed manner. However, because I had to work on December 24th in my previous jobs and was up late into the night on December 23rd wrapping presents and writing greeting cards, I had already done everything this Christmas by mid-December. Unbelievable but true! You can approach Christmas with a very liberated feeling.
I can’t really say it was a „relaxed“ Christmas. Going to two family celebrations on December 24th and two more on December 25th is pretty stressful. Nevertheless, it was very contemplative and beautiful everywhere and I enjoyed every single celebration. When do you get to see so many dear relatives and friends in such a short space of time? December 26th was spent at home on the sofa, having breakfast, playing Wii, lunch, playing Xbox One, dinner and watching TV. We hoped to recharge our batteries, even though you still feel pretty exhausted after a day like that. 😉
The preparations for New Year’s Eve were almost as stressful as Christmas. A tip – raclette for 11 people at one table is not a particularly good idea. My boyfriend and I took care of the ingredients for the raclette. This involved shopping with long wish lists, buying additional raclettes, and preparing and cutting the individual ingredients. Yes – that was quite a lot of bowls for a table that was actually intended for a maximum of 7 people. The bright spot was one of our guests who showed up at our door with a 10l pot of hot punch. Of course we couldn’t leave it outside so we brought it in – and the guest too, of course.
But all jokes aside, I really enjoyed every single day of my vacation and every single celebration – even with the stress that comes with it – but the time spent together and being together makes up for everything.
