In just a few days it will be that time again: On February 14th, lovers all over the world will celebrate the special day – Valentine’s Day. How is Valentine’s Day celebrated in other countries?
Or better yet, what would you do if your boyfriend gave you a wooden spoon for Valentine’s Day? Yes, it’s a bit confusing if you’re used to chocolate in a heart-shaped box. For young men in Wales, this is completely normal: they proudly present their „love spoons“ to their loved ones.
Unfortunately, women in South Korea don’t receive gifts. Instead, they give their friends white chocolate.
For once, Japanese women don’t expect men to make the first move on Valentine’s Day. Once a year, men also receive lots of chocolate as a gift.
February 14th is seen in Slovenia as a perfect day to work in the fields because St. Valentine is one of the biggest saints for spring. So what better time than to work in the fields!
Have you heard of the love buses? Estonia celebrates Friends‘ Day on February 14th, and for singles, the so-called Love Bus has become a tradition where singles hope to find the right person. Even if you don’t meet the right person, the tour with friends is still fun.
Every bride wants to be the center of attention on her wedding day. This might not be easy in the Philippines, where mass weddings take place on Valentine’s Day. Up to 5,000 couples get married on this special day.
Back to Austria: According to a recent study, 92 percent of women don’t want to receive any gifts for Valentine’s Day and 40 percent don’t want to give anything themselves. But when women want to receive something, it’s trips followed by flowers. And what do you give your loved one?
What we can advise against are poems copied from the Internet that no one wants to hear anymore. Like this one, for example:
I say you
I love you,
because without you
I can’t be!
With this in mind, I wish you a happy Valentine’s Day, with lots of love and roses – for every day of the year!
Your Cansu <3
